The long-rumored (and recently leaked) stunt show based off the “Jason Bourne” film is officially coming to Universal Studios Florida next year.

The resort confirmed that The Bourne Stuntactular will open in spring 2020. In a blog post, Universal said the show will “blur the lines between stage and cinema in a hybrid form of entertainment that has never been seen before.”

“The Bourne Stuntacular will follow Jason Bourne around the globe as sinister characters pursue him,” wrote Universal public relations representative Hailey Fitch. “This action-packed show will feature thrilling chase scenes, punishing fistfights, death-defying leaps and danger at every turn. And it will all happen right in front of you with live performers, interactive props and an immense LED screen – making it impossible to determine where the live-action ends and the screen begins.”

Less than a week earlier, the name and description of the show were accidentally posted to the Universal Orlando website. According to an article from Ken Storey of Orlando Weekly, Universal contacted fan blogs asking them to remove stories about the leak.

Universal did not return a request for comment from Orlando Rising on whether they asked any sites to remove articles.

As expected, the show will take over the former space of Terminator 2: 3-D, which closed in 2017. Unlike the “Terminator” franchise, the “Bourne” films were distributed by Universal, which fits with Universal’s recent moves to base attractions around its own intellectual property (outside of the Warner Bros.-controlled “Harry Potter” franchise). The “Bourne” franchise is now expanding to television with a new series called “Treadstone” on the USA Network.

With Universal having promised to add a new attraction to each resort every year, its 2020 addition in Orlando is now set. The new ride for 2019 was Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at Islands of Adventure.

Universal has not made any official announcement about what will be coming in 2021, but very noticeable site work has been underway for months for a rumored Jurassic Park roller coaster in Islands of Adventure.
