The darker aspects of the Wizarding World will be on full display in Universal Orlando’s new projection show, “Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle,” set at debut at Islands of Adventure later this year.

Nighttime projections onto the park’s Hogwarts Castle began in June 2017, with a seasonal Christmas version running during the holidays. The new show, Universal said, will be a departure by focusing on dark creatures and wizards.

“This exciting all-new light projection experience will cast a mesmerizing display unleashing eerie creatures and villains upon the stone walls of the castle,” Universal content engagement manager Melissa Baumgaertner wrote on the Universal Orlando blog. “Illuminating the darker side of the Wizarding World, this spectacle of music and lights will unleash some of the eeriest creatures and darkest wizards of the Harry Potter series, cast ominously against the stone walls of the castle.”

According to Universal’s press release, the show will include Dementors, Death Eaters, and even a glimpse of Lord Voldemort.

The show will be accompanied by an exclusive musical arrangement based on John Williams’ “Harry Potter” film score recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra.

Orlando fans won’t be the first to see the show, however. Like the original “Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle,” the projection show will debut at Universal Hollywood’s version of the Wizarding World, running nightly from April 13-28 and again from May 25-27. No opening date has been announced for Orlando, though Universal said it would be “later this year.”

The Hogsmeade section of Islands of Adventure is already set to expand in 2019. Universal recently announced that Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, a new roller coaster, will open to guests on June 13.
