Universal Orlando Resort will begin selling tickets Nov. 15 to its new water park, Volcano Bay, which is scheduled to open next summer.

The 30-acre water park will feature a combination roller coaster and aqua adventure called Krakatau Aqua Coaster. Universal’s third water park will include a multi-directional wave pool, a winding river, twisting raft rides, and body slides that drop from the top of the centerpiece volcano.

Universal also announced Thursday the water park will introduce TapuTapu wearable technology that will allow guests to avoid long lines by waiting for rides while playing in other areas of the park.

The water park’s main attraction is the 200-foot tall volcano-shaped Krakatau Aqua Coaster, which combines innovative roller coaster technology with water theme park rides. Guests will board canoes that use linear induction motor technology to propel the riders through the volcano’s interior peaks and valleys.

The TapuTapu wearable will create virtual waits and alert visitors when it’s their turn to head to the attraction. It also will have a “tap-to-play” option where guests can trigger special effects like controlling streams of water spurting from whales in Tot Tiki Reef, shooting water cannons along Kopiko Wai Winding River and illuminating images in the volcano’s hidden caves.
