U.S. Air National GuardSuper Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes joins Disney World parade Monday John Gregory 02/02/2020 Disney World Disney World will keep its post-Super Bowl tradition going Monday as Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be a part of the Magic Kingdom’s afternoon parade. Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 31-20 comeback win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, giving the franchise its first Super Bowl win in 50 years. The quarterback was named the game’s most valuable player after completing 26 of 42 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns. “It’s something I’ve wanted to say my whole life,” Mahomes said after the game. “I’m going to Disney World.” That line was been a Super Bowl tradition since New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms said it in a Disney commercial following Super Bowl XXI in January 1987. It was never a spur-of-the-moment line; Simms was paid $75,000 for the advertisement, according to an article published that year by The New York Times. The Magic Kingdom parade featuring Mahomes will be livestreamed on the Disney Parks Blog at 2:40 p.m. ET Monday. More than a dozen Make-a-Wish children who attended the Super Bowl will also be invited to the park that day, and Disney will donate $1 million to the Make-a-Wish foundation, according to a Disney Parks Blogs post. The MVP doesn’t always make post-Super Bowl trek solo. Last year’s MVP, New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman, brought along Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who himself had been Disney’s special guest twice before after earlier Patriots championships.
