A propane industry trade group is helping Seminole County schools with its newly-purchased propane-fueled buses.
The nonprofit Propane Education & Research Council gave the $5,000 to promote the use of propane in school buses, reports Jessica Bakeman of POLITICO Florida.
The donation is part of a national campaign for “the clean, quiet and safe alternative to older diesel buses.”
Seminole County Public Schools bought 48 propane-fueled buses last year, making up about 10 percent of the district’s total fleet.
PERC gave the surprise donation to elementary school teachers in Geneva Tuesday.
Bakeman writes that the money will be split between the school’s student council, engineering, robotics and gardening clubs.
