A plane’s engine caught fire at the Orlando International Airport, prompting crews to evacuate the aircraft.
Airport spokeswoman Carolyn Fennell tells news outlets that an engine of Silver Airways Flight 70 caught fire Monday night as the aircraft was parked near a gate.
She says someone noticed a possible fire coming from one of the engines and that the crew received an indication of a possible mechanical issue after safety and operational procedures. Nine passengers and three crew members were then evacuated as firefighters put out the flames.
Fennell says that the airport worked on providing customers with hotel accommodations for the night and to reaccommodate them on flights for Tuesday morning.
No injuries were reported.
