Orlando City Commissioner Jim Gray has endorsed Republican Peter Vivaldi in the race for Florida’s Senate District 15 seat.
Vivaldi already is the Republican nominee and will face the Aug. 30 primary winner of a brawl between Democrats state Rep. Victor Torres and Kissimmee businessman Bob Healy.
Gray represents Orlando’s 1st District, which covers some of the same territory of SD 15, not including the Senate district’s swath into Osceola County and Kissimmee.
“Peter Vivaldi is the clear choice to represent District 15 in the Florida Senate,” Gray stated in a news release issued by Vivaldi’s campaign. “I don’t usually endorse political candidates, but I am making an exception for Peter. He understands the needs of the residents of this district, especially the many young families who are committed to a brighter future for their children. I am confident we can count on him to work hard for a stronger economy and to make sure every child has access to a world-class education so that they can take advantage of 21st century opportunities.”
“I am honored to have Commissioner Gray’s support,” Vivaldi stated in the release. “He is a business leader and dedicated public servant, and I look forward to working with him to make sure Florida and Orlando remain the best place in the country to live, work, and raise a family.”
