Orange County Commission candidate Nicolette Springer has received the endorsement of Ruth’s List Florida, her campaign announced.
Ruth’s List Florida, an organization dedicated to recruiting and aiding Democratic women candidates, lauded Springer’s commitment to stand up for Florida women and families. Springer is a criminologist with a master’s degree in criminal justice. She also is an educator and a mother with two daughters.
“Nicolette has been a fearless advocate for children’s health, as well as for gender equality, women’s rights, and health care for all,” Marley Wilkes, Ruth’s List Florida executive director, stated in a news release issued by Springer’s campaign. “The Ruth’s List community — now tens of thousands of members strong — is excited to support her candidacy.”
Springer is running for Orange County Commission District 4 against Susan Makowski, Lance Ballinger, Gina Perez-Calhoun, and Maribel Gomez Cordero. They seek to succeed Commissioner Jennifer Thompson in representing southeast Orange County. Thompson is leaving office due to term limits.
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement from Ruth’s List because of its work in holding Florida leaders accountable and standing up for women’s issues. Ruth’s List has been a model for women candidates throughout the state. My campaign is grounded in the belief that Orange County government should be accountable to its citizens and considerate of its resources. In doing so, I want to make sure everyone’s voice is heard and we all receive the same access to opportunity.”
