Amidst all the other tributes to those affected by the Pulse nightclub shooting on June 12, there will now be a special comic book paying tribute to the victims.
Several comic book artists are collaborating on a project called “Love Is Love” for DC Comics, according to The New York Times. It will be a 144-page book and will feature work by Damon Lindelof, Patton Oswalt, Phil Jimenez and Olivier Coipel.
There will be over 100 stories in the book, each just one or two pages long. Project organizer Mark Andreyko, a comic writer and screenwriter, said he’s a “child of the 80s,” who grew up with similar projects in the past like “We Are The World” and “Live Aid.”
“Events like this shouldn’t be compartmentalized,” he said. “They should hurt and we should want to change for the better.”
The NYT article states Andreyko “played matchmaker” for contributing writers and artists, too, seeing who “felt right” together for each story.
