State Rep. John Cortes, a Kissimmee Democrat, has joined five of his House colleagues in planning to seek another term in 2020.

Cortes, who was unopposed in this year’s elections, opened a campaign account Wednesday to run again in two years, according to the state Division of Elections. Cortes, who was first elected in 2014, represents Osceola County’s House District 43.

Cortes joined Rep. Brad Drake, a Eucheeanna Republican, Rep. Sam Killebrew, a Winter Haven Republican, St. Petersburg Democratic Rep. Ben Diamond, Rep. Michael Grant, a Port Charlotte Republican, and Democratic Rep. Evan Jenne, of Dania Beach, in opening accounts to run again in 2020.

Among other candidates with open accounts for 2020 are Gulf Breeze Republican Alex Andrade and Boynton Beach Democrat Joe Casello, who have already won open House seats this year.
