‘Incredibles’ taking over Pixar Place John Gregory 09/20/2018 Our Fun 1 The former Pixar Place area in Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be rethemed after “The Incredibles” as one of many small changes Disney announced for its parks in 2019. In a Disney Parks Blog post about “new and limited time experiences” coming to Disney World next year, the area once built to look like Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, Calif. will now be remade into a city block of Municiberg. “At the end of the block, a party will be held in honor of Mr. Incredible, Mrs. Incredible and Frozone to celebrate their Super deeds,” wrote Jeremy Schoolfield, managing editor at Walt Disney World public relations. The area will feature a character meet-and-greet with Edna Mode, the super suit designer from the films. Schoolfield wrote that guests should also be on the “look out for clues to the whereabouts” of Jack-Jack, the youngest in the Incredibles family. Pixar Place has been closed since July. Once Toy Story Land opened on June 30, the original entrance to Toy Story Mania was no longer in use, and the Pixar sign was removed. The area was kept open to handle overflow crowds for the first weekend Toy Story Land was open and then walled off with the expectation that it would be transformed into a backstage area off-limits to guests. Other offerings Disney World will add in 2019 include: — An all-new “Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party” coming to the Cinderella Castle Stage at the Magic Kingdom as part of events celebrating Mickey and Minnie Mouse. — A new “Monsters Inc.” meet-and-greet at Disney’s Hollywood Studios — The “Hakuna Makata Dance Party” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom marking the 25th anniversary of “The Lion King.” — Epcot’s International Festival of Arts will run from Jan. 18 — Feb. 25, 2019, with an expanded Disney on Broadway Concert Series. — The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival will return from March 6 — June 3, 2019, with an expanded concert lineup of “270 concerts over the course of the 90-day events.” Disney has yet to announce specific opening dates for 2019’s bigger additions, both of which are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will open sometime in 2019, taking over space formerly occupied by the Great Movie Ride. In late fall 2019, Disney will open the 14-acre Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, containing two new attractions and hyped as one of the most immersive theme park experiences ever attempted.
