For many students at Bethune-Cookman University, this presidential election will be their first ever — and progressive group For Florida’s Future is giving them the chance to vote every weekend during early voting, ensuring their voices will be heard, in a campaign titled “Shuttle Together, Stronger Together.”
“This year millennial voters have tremendous electoral power as the largest generation in the country and in the state,” said For Florida’s Future Press Secretary Blake Williams. “Our program ensures that we harness the excitement and energy we have observed on campuses from our daily conversations with students and translate that into votes for at the polls. The issues we are organizing around include climate change and criminal justice reform, to women’s rights and college affordability.”
Following months of student outreach, the campaign will make sure students who want to vote have the ability to do so unhindered by unforeseen circumstances that may arise.
There will be a campaign kickoff event today at 12:30 p.m. at 640 Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Blvd. in Daytona Beach.
