Senator Geraldine Thompson has received the Democratic Women’s Club of Florida, Inc.’s 2016 Legislative Advocacy award, which signifies that she has represented the DWC’s views most wholly.
The award was given to Thompson because of her fierce advocacy for all Floridians, a press release states.
Because of her work advocating for common sense gun control, a woman’s right to choose, affordable health care and education, the DWC gave the Legislative Advocacy award to Thompson.
Thompson accepted the award and said women had made great progress in the United States.
But, she added, they weren’t done yet.
“In order to achieve a more inclusive America, we must remain engaged and make our voices heard,” she said.
