Eric Rollings gets Realtors’, Nelson Betancourt endorsements in Orange County Commission race Scott Powers 03/28/2018 Our Politics Orange County Commission candidate Eric Rollings announced Wednesday he has received endorsements from the Orlando Regional Realtor Association and a former rival, Nelson Betancourt, for the District 3 contest. Betancourt withdrew from the Orange County Commission District 3 race, and has thrown his support in that contest to Rollings, Rollings said. The race to succeed Commissioner Pete Clarke also has five other candidates, Pete Crotty, Bobby Lance, Gus Martinez, Bill Moore and Mayra Uribe. Officially the election is in 2020, yet Clarke is running for Orange County mayor and will have to resign the seat to qualify for the ballot, forcing a 2018 special election. Lance is of Belle Isle. All the others are of Orlando. Betancourt, who entered in January, withdrew on Monday, according to the Orange County Supervisor of Elections website. “I think he’s very effective, he’s conscientious, he works hard, and he’s a caring individual,” Betancourt said about Rollings. “I think his head is in the right place for this community. In addition to Betancourt’s backing, Rollings announced the local realtor group’s endorsement. The association represents 18,000 members. Rolling, of Orlando, is a Realtor, and a member of the association for 15 years. He also is chair of the Orange County Soil and Water Conservation District.
