The 2020 event was originally scheduled to run from Sept. 10 through Oct. 31 at Universal Studios Florida. While the start date hasn’t changed, Universal quietly pushed the final night of the event to Sunday, Nov. 1.
In 2018, $277 million was generated in Orange County by a 6 percent tax on hotel rooms. Most of that revenue will go to Visit Orlando, a nonprofit group to promote the tourism industry in Orlando — including major theme parks like Disney World and Universal Orlando.
Orlando has the worst affordable housing situation in the U.S., according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, with only 13 affordable housing units available for every 100 residents who need one.
According to records obtained by the Orlando Sentinel, Universal Orlando is seeking $348 million in state tax breaks for a new headquarters for Universal Creative.
“Other attractions may have had some hiccups during the rollout of a new attraction, but nothing at the magnitude of Hagrid's,” Touring Plans statistician Steve Bloom told Orlando Rising.
The Green Eggs and Ham Cafe at Universal's Islands of Adventure will stay open through December, but the old sign won't be reinstalled.
