Republican state Rep. Bob Cortes Friday praised his new appointment as vice chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee.
Cortes, of Altamonte Springs, also was placed on the Transportation and Tourism Subcommittee as House Speaker Richard Corcoran announced new committee appointments late Thursday for the 2018 Legislative Session.
“It is vital that Florida’s infrastructure and transportation grid be ready to meet the challenges of our continued growth, especially here in Central Florida,” Cortes stated in a news release issued by his office. “I appreciate this opportunity to provide leadership on this important issue that I am well versed on, with my many years in the transportation business. I look forward to working with the majority whip as his new deputy whip as well.”
Cortes will serve as the deputy whip and a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, the Public Integrity and Ethics Committee, the Transportation and Tourism Appropriations Subcommittee, and the Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee as well.
He no longer will serve on the Education Committee, for which he had been vice chair, or two of that committee’s subcommittees, for Post-Secondary Education, and PreK-12 Innovation.
