Democratic former state Sen. Geraldine Thompson has thrown her support behind Democrat Anna Eskamani in the contest for Florida’s House District 47 in Orlando.

Eskamani announced the endorsement Tuesday.

“Anna is a leader in our community who understands firsthand the challenges we face as a nation and state,” Thompson stated in a news release. “She has been a problem-solver for years, and is a strong role model for women and girls too. I am proud to stand with Anna in her campaign and give her my full support.”

Eskamani, an Orlando executive with Planned Parenthood, faces Winter Park businessman Stockton Reeves in the quest to succeed Republican state Rep. Mike Miller, who is running for Congress.

“Senator Thompson is an incredible public servant and has committed her life to improving the lives of everyday Floridians. I am humbled by her support and excited to have her join our campaign as we work hard to build a community where all people can reach their fullest potential.”
