The 2018 edition of Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights will run for an extra night. The resort has added Tuesday, Oct. 30 as an event date “due to popular demand.”

“Halloween Horror Nights 2018 is the biggest, most intense event in history with more haunted houses than ever before,” Universal said in a news release. “Horrors inspired by the past come to life as guests face 10 haunted houses and five scare zones based on everything from the biggest names in horror and pop culture to haunting original stories that only the twisted minds of Universal’s Entertainment team could create.”

Guests who have already bought Universal’s Frequent Fear Pass, Frequent Fear Plus Pass and the Ultimate Frequent Fear Pass will have access to the park on the newly added night.

Universal had previously scheduled the event to last for 36 nights at Universal Studios Florida after the late addition of two Wednesday dates in September. Two recent event dates — Oct. 12 and Oct. 14 — sold out.

The headliner of this year’s HHN is the house based off the Netflix series “Stranger Things.” Other highlights of the ‘80s-themed event include houses based off horror hits like “Poltergeist” and “Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers” and a scare zone themed around the 1988 cult horror film “Killer Klowns from Outer Space.”

Universal has created space on its calendar to make the event last longer in 2019. In recent years, while other seasonal events like the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party have seen start dates as early as August, HHN has stuck to a mid-September kickoff preceded by its Rock the Universe Christian music festival. The 2019 fest has been moved to February — opening the door to Universal starting HHN earlier next year.

This year’s Halloween Horror Nights will run on select nights at Universal Studios Florida until Nov. 3.
