Orange County District 5 Commission candidate Timothy McKinney added another notch to his belt recently with the endorsement of former UCF Student Government Association president Cait Zona.
“I am so thrilled to endorse Tim McKinney in his bid for Orange County Commissioner District 5,” she said, according to a news release. “I have had the honor of working with Tim for over three years. His passion to improve our community and its people is clear and his energy is inspirational. From the first day I volunteered with Tim I knew that he had the heart and the know-how to implement real and meaningful change that our community so desperately needs.”
McKinney called Zona’s endorsement “extremely important” to his campaign, as UCF’s main campus is part of District 5.
“Having Cait’s endorsement further magnifies the momentum, importance and reach of my campaign and means so much to me,” he said. “Together, when I am also an Orange County Commissioner, we will kick this aggressive spirit of collaboration up to a whole new level and make even bigger things happen for the benefit of our entire community. The students of UCF deserve an aggressive advocate that is available to them now and in their future. I am.”
McKinney, who serves as CEO of nonprofit group United Global Outreach, will be facing against incumbent Ted Edwards for the District 5 seat in this year’s election, as well as fellow contenders Gregory Eisenberg and Emily Bonilla.
