Orange County collected $23.7 million in tourist development tax in the month of October, starting the new fiscal year 7 percent ahead of the beginnig of fiscal year 2018 began, which was a record year for Orange County tourism.
The October haul not only was $1.5 million more than Orange County collected in the same month in 2017, but was more than $2 million more than had been projected for the first month of the county’s 2019 fiscal year.
“This is a great start to our new TDT year. I hope that the rest of the year will continue to be as strong as October,” stated Orange County Comptroller Phil Diamond.
In September Orange County completed the 2018 fiscal year with a total of $276 million collected, up 8 percent over 2017.
