The Libertarian Party of Orange County announced three endorsements in Orange County local races, including of Jose “Joe” Lopez for Orange County Sheriff.
The group also endorsed Sean McQuade and Derek Ryan for supervisor seats on the Orange County Soil and Water Conservation District.
Ryan is chairman of the Libertarian Party of Orange County, and the only Libertarian running for public office in the county this year.
Lopez, a retired Florida Highway Patrol chief, is a registered Democrat running for Sheriff as an independent candidate. So is his main opponent, Orlando Police Chief John Mina.
McQuade is registered as a Republican.
The Soil and Water Conservation District elections and offices are non-partisan.
Ryan faces Dawn Curtis for the Soil and Water District 4 post.
McQuade faces incumbent Supervisor Daisy Morales for the Soil and Water District 2 post.
The Libertarians also endorsed yes votes on Constitutional Amendments 4, 5 and 11, and urged no votes on Amendments 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, and 13.
