Orange County Soil and Water Conservation District Chair Eric Rollings has received the endorsements of Democratic state Reps. Amy Mercado and John Cortes for Rollings quest to be elected the Orange County Commission District 3 seat.

Rollings campaign announced the endorsements Friday.

“We’ve been running full steam ahead for months with an active campaign schedule and strong fundraising,” Rollings stated in a news release. “These endorsements help fuel our momentum as we head for the August 28th election!”

Rollings faces businessman Pete Crotty, former Belle Isle City Commissioner Bobby Lance, retired Orlando police officer Bill Moore, and former Orange County Commission aide Mayra Uribe in the August 28 election. If no one gets more than 50 percent of the vote, the top two will face off in November.

The District 3 seat, being vacated by Commissioner Pete Clarke, who is running for mayor, covers parts of southeast and central Orange County. It overlaps with much of Mercado’s district. Cortes represents part of Osceola County, to the south.
