Emily Bonilla has picked up an endorsement from Rep. Victor Torres in her race for Orange County Commission District 5.
Torres wrote that he supports Bonilla because she is “a champion of The People,” and that she understands the challenges of District 5 and the county as a whole.
“Emily spent 15 years creating and attracting jobs as a successful business owner, consultant and career advisor,” he wrote. “Emily was influential with the Orange County Economic Advisory and Planning Department to consider increasing job creation and expanding the job market. Emily believes that responsible economic growth can be environmentally friendly. Emily is focused on what matters. Local businesses will see increased success when its consumers have an improved job market and better wages. Please join me in supporting Emily Bonilla for Orange County Commission District 5.”
Bonilla, in light of Torres’ strong progressive record in the Legislature, said the endorsement was one she was proud of.
“I am honored and appreciative of the glowing endorsement from Rep. Torres,” she said. “Rep. Torres is a trusted friend of the campaign and a model of good governance. With this endorsement, my campaign for Orange County Commissioner is recognized as a fresh and progressive alternative in leadership for District 5.”
In the heated District 5 race, Bonilla is up against incumbent Ted Edwards as well as opponents Timothy McKinney and Gregory Eisenberg.
