Orlando consultant and former state representative Dick Batchelor has been elected chairman of the Central Florida Urban League’s board of directors.

Batchelor, president of the Dick Batchelor Management Group, is one of the more influential and publicly active business leaders in Central Florida, will lead the board as the Urban League seeks to expand its business relationships in efforts to help achieve social and economic equality.

Batchelor said his role will include helping the organization reach deeper into Central Florida’s corporate community, seeking broader representation of the corporate community in the Urban League’s efforts.

“We definately focus on economic empowerment, which is our overarching goal,” Batchelor said. “We also are looking to focus on financial literacy, toward educaton and tutoring.”
