Orange County School Board candidate David Grimm has received the endorsement of Orange County Commissioner Jennifer Thompson in his quest to be elected in District 2, his campaign announced.

It’s the second endorsement Grimm has announced this week involving a sitting commissioner whose district overlaps the school board District 2. Earlier, Orlando Commissioner Jim Gray announced his endorsement of Grimm.

Grimm faces Johanna Lopez in the Nov. 6 runoff election after the two finished second and first, respectively, in a six-candidate field in the Aug. 28 runoff.

“I’m proud to support David Grimm for Orange County School Board,” Thompson stated in a Facebook post. “David understands the issues and is a servant leader who puts people above politics. He will represent the interests of our community well and I proudly endorse him in his effort to become our next school board member.”

Much of Thompson’s Orange County Commission District 4 overlaps with the Orange County School Board District 2.

“Thank you so much Jennifer Thompson for your kind words and endorsement. It is an honor to have the support of the current OC Commissioner of District 4 which overlaps a large portion of the SB 2 area. Our students, teachers/staff, parents and communities are my #1 priority!” Grimm stated in a response.
