State Senate District 12 candidate David Gee lent another $100,000 to his campaign as of June 30, according to a campaign finance report.
As of Friday, Gee had received a total of $3,910 in contributions and had spent a total of $149,075, including $88,422 between June 25 and Friday.
Gee also loaned $105,000 to his campaign in April.
Gee is currently running against two other Republicans, Dennis Baxley of Ocala and Marlene O’Toole of Lady Lake, for the District 12 seat, which is currently open and up for grabs. The winner of the Republican primary is expected to take the seat – the only other candidate is write-in candidate Elizabeth McNutt.
Gee is a first-time candidate and says he’s running for office to take the government out of the hands of the “Tallahassee elite,” and return it to the people.
