State Rep. Bobby Olszewski of Winter Garden has been assigned to another committee, this time receiving an assignment to the PreK-12 Quality Subcommittee of the House Education Committee.
The appointment, from Florida House Speaker Richard Corcoran, was announced Wednesday.
“I thank Speaker Corcoran for naming me to the PreK-12 Quality Subcommittee as I look forward to serving this legislative session to ensure that our children in Florida receive a quality, first-class education,” Olszewski stated in a news release issued by his office. “We can accomplish this by empowering teachers in the classroom and providing parents the ability to get their children the best educational resources for their unique child and learning needs.”
On that committee, Olszewski, a Republican, joins an already-strong Central Florida delegation. Republican state Rep. Rene Plasencia of Orlando is vice-chairman, and state Rep. Bruce Antone of Orlando is the ranking Democrat on the committee. In addition, Republican Mike La Rosa of St. Cloud and Democrat Kamia Brown of Ocoee are on the committee.
Olszewski just joined the Florida House this fall after winning a special election to represent House District 44. He also has been assigned seats on the House Careers & Competition Subcommittee; Government Accountability Committee; Local, Federal & Veterans Affairs Subcommittee; and the PreK-12 Appropriations Subcommittee.
